One of the most important Italian protagonists of conceptual art, Paolini uses his art to convey traditional and “noble” elements of art creations, well-established forms and styles that belong to painting and sculpture and are deeply influenced by the classic heritage. The influence (and burden) of ancient art is a theme that appears also in his most recent productions, where he denounces the difficult role of contemporary artists, who are forced to work in an acrobatic balance with quotation, ironic recover and exploration of the communicative potentialities of duplicates and copies.
